Rang Upvan C.C. Mehta Natya Gruh which was an open air theatre is now covered applying a steel structure. This facilitate an audience of nearly 1400 persons to seat. The arena is stepped with floor made up of kota stone. It has a covered wooden stage with dressing rooms, stage area is 127.40 sq.mts. and audience area is 1351.90 sq. mts. The arena is enclosed with a decorative wall on all the four sides. This theatre is in the dead centre of the city.

It provides the most appropriate place to host various events like School Cultural Programmes, College's Musical Evening,, Drama, Belay, Classical Music, Classical Dance, Folk Dance, Ras-Garba, Light Music, Songs, Gazzals, Mushayra, Kawali, Daira, Poet Gathering, Business Meeting, Magic Show, Social Gathering, etc.

BOOKING / RESERVATION:

Interested Organisation or Persons shall contact the following for booking or reserving the hall for their programmes etc. except on Public holidays between 10.30 am to 2.00 pm. The Manager, Gandhi Smriti Bhavan, Nanpura, Surat Tel no. 91-261-2472643. Booking of Rang Upvan on hire basis is done by the Manager- Gandhi Smruti Bhavan and the Rates and other details is as follows. Note:

Rs.7/- per unit will be charged for electricity consumption. If the programme runs beyond one hour exceedig the stipulated time-limit, organizer will have to pay full charge of a session. Rs.50/- will be charged extra for Booking Form. Booking Form is available from Manager Two sessions are available in Rang Upvan C.C. Mehta Natya Gruh. 9.00 am to 1.00 pm 5.30 pm to 9.30 pm Organization / Persons wants to use Rang Upvan chairs should lift up from Godown & put them back properly at their own cost.. Light Effect & Sound arrangements is as per organizers choice. Booking can be done two months in advance on the 1st working day of every month. No programme shall be allowed to conduct unless permission from Police Authorities is obtained both for performance and license for sale of Tickets. All parties / organizers have to observe the rules.

સામગ્રી :

પાલકની ભાજી - ૫૦ ગ્રામ, વટાણા - ૫૦ ગ્રામ, લીલાં ચણા - ૫૦ ગ્રામ, આદું - નાનો ટુકડો, લીલા મરચાં - ૨ નંગ, અજમો - અડધી ચમચી, તલ - ૧ ચમચી, ચોખાનો લોટ - ૨ ચમચા, ચણાનો લોટ - ૧ ચમચો, ઘઉંનો લોટ - ૨૦૦ ગ્રામ, મીઠું - સ્વાદ મુજબ, તેલ - જરૂર પ્રમાણે

રીત :

પાલક, વટાણા, લીલા ચણા, આદું અને લીલાં મરચાંને ગ્રાઇન્ડ કરી પેસ્ટ બનાવી લો. આ પેસ્ટમાં અજમો, તલ અને મીઠું ભેળવો. હવે બધા લોટને મિકસ કરી તેમાં તેલનું મોણ નાખી પેસ્ટને લોટમાં સારી રીતે મિકસ કરી કણક બાંધો. પ્રમાણસર લૂઆ લઇ પરોઠાં વણી લોઢી પર બંને બાજુએ શેકી લો. આમલીની ચટણી સાથે આ પરોઠા ટેસ્ટી લાગે છે.

ગાજર-ટામેટાંનો પુલાવ

સામગ્રી :

ચોખા - દોઢ કપ, ગાજર - ૨ નંગ, સમારેલાં ટામેટાં - ૨ નંગ, તમાલપત્ર - ૧ નંગ, તજ - નાનો ટુકડો, એલચા - ૨ નંગ, સમારેલું આદું - નાનો ટુકડો, નાની ડુંગળી - ૭-૮, લીમડો - ૬-૭ પાન, કિશમિશ - ૨ ચમચી, મરીનો પાઉડર - અડધી ચમચી, ટામેટાંની પ્યોરી - ૧ કપ, લીંબુનો રસ - ૧ ચમચી, સમારેલી કોથમીર - ૨ ચમચા, મીઠું - સ્વાદ મુજબ

રીત :

ચોખાને અડધા કલાક સુધી ત્રણ કપ પાણીમાં પલાળી રાખો. ત્યાર બાદ નિતારીને એક તરફ રહેવા દો. નોનસ્ટિક પેનને ગરમ કરી તેમાં તમાલપત્ર, તજ અને એલચાને કોરા જ શેકો. પછી તેમાં આદું, સમારેલી ડુંગળી, ટામેટાં, સમારેલાં ગાજર અને મીઠું નાખી બે-ત્રણ મિનિટ સુધી સાંતળો. ત્રણ કપ પાણી રેડીને હલાવો. તે ઊકળે એટલે તેમાં લીમડો, પલાળેલા ચોખા, કિશમિશ, મરી અને ટામેટાંની પ્યોરી ઉમેરી હળવે હળવે સતત હલાવતાં રહો. લીંબુનો રસ અને સમારેલી કોથમીર મિકસ કરો. ઢાંકીને આંચ ધીમી કરી પુલાવ તૈયાર થાય ત્યાં સુધી રહેવા દો. ગરમ જ સર્વ કરો.
